This monograph contains a history of Oxford University Press in South Africa. In Chapter 1 'The Vision for OUP in Africa' (pp. 19-21) there is a review of OUP's work in Cape Town from 1927-46, in  'Publishing under Apartheid: OUP in South Africa' (pp.. 65-87) there is a review of the period 1965-1989. There are also case studies of the publication of South African authors in OUP's Three Crowns Series, including a chapter on 'Publishing Athol Fugard' (pp. 162-193), and a briefer case study of the publication of Oswald Mtshali (pp.137-140) and Lewis Nkosi  (p. 73-4).
